Missing Endangered Chambersburg Man Found In Pond By Police

A missing 82-year-old man from Franklin County was located by Pennsylvania State Police announced on Monday, Oct. 14.

Kore Byler had last been seen driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado with a Pennsylvania license plate "ZBM2510" in the area of Roxbury Road in Shippensburg Township around 1:30 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 13, as detailed in a release by the PA State Police in Chambersburg.

Pennsylvania State Police, Troop H, Chambers Station was conducting a missing/endangered persons investigation to locate Byler.

A call to a "sinking vehicle" in the 600 block of South Baltimore Street of Carroll Township came into to York County Department of Emergency Services at 5:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14

Byler, still in his pickup, was found in the small retention pond near Northern Elementary School in the Northern York County School District, dispatch said. Arriving police issued a "water rescue" alert and firefighters pulled the vehicle and Byler out of the three feet of water.

He was believed to be at special risk of harm or injury and might have been confused, according to PSP.

After being taken to Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill for evaluation, he was safely reunited with his family around 7 a.m., officials said.
